Meet the Beekeeper

My beekeeping journey is a story of finding my passion for bees, working in agriculture, and the pursuit of building a successful apiary.  As a first generation beekeeper, I started as a rookie employee in 2010 in the bee yards of Winters, California.  Little did I know my job would ultimately lead to my passion for beekeeping that has become a career full of opportunity, travel, friendships, and future..

Brittany’s Bees began in 2019 when I purchased my first 10 hives, since then I’ve grown to almost 400 colonies. I’ve found Wheeler County to be a great home base for my bees and business.  The people and landscape of the Ochoco’s and John Day Basin have greeted me and my hives with open arms and endless support.

As my hive numbers grow and my honey boxes become heavier with fresh local raw honey, I keep working to improve my line of artisan products.  I personally bottle every jar of honey by hand, handmake candles and tend to each hive!

I believe bees are a valuable part of regenerative agriculture benefitting wild and agricultural plant populations while producing nutritious clean and natural products! I strive to learn and implement more holistic beekeeping practices each year.  I hope those that meet me view me as a partner and neighbor in building sustainable products, healthier communities, and stronger local economy!

ABOUT OUR BEES

My goal is to sync the bees with mother nature as much as possible. Each hive is treated individually with care. While our bees do pollinate some early spring orchards in California, they spend the rest of the year on various ranches throughout Eastern Oregon. Here they will spend the summer foraging on wildflowers to create honey stores for winter survival.  The clean environment of our neighbors helps us keep our colonies safe from pesticides.  We are blessed to have such a wonderful community and landscape to support our passion of beekeeping.
